The Mido Commander 1959 Pixel flashes like a disco ball
Model: M8429.4.N7.11
One of Mido's best-known and continuously produced models, the Commander has been winning the hearts of watch lovers since 1959. This iconic model is now back in a new guise: the Commander 1959 Special Edition combines bold pixel graphics with the vintage design typical of the model family.
Mido Commander 1959 Pixel dazzling dial
The dial of the new Commander 1959 features graphic elements that mimic colorful pixels, evoking both the digital momentum of our time and the traditional values of watchmaking. The playful composition of eye-catching blue, purple, and pink pixels on a black background gives the watch a unique character. The watch comes to life at night: the Super-LumiNova® coating on the dial glows, giving the watch a whole new look and radiating a retro disco vibe.
Mido Commander 1959 Pixel with the Milanese metal bracelet characteristic of the Commander series
The design of the Commander 1959 perfectly combines the values of the past and present. Vintage-style elements such as the Milanese mesh metal strap and acrylic crystal watch glass are not left out, creating a strong contrast with the modern, colorful pixel graphics and the watch's dynamic impression.
Mido Commander 1959 Pixel structure, Caliber 80
The watch has a monoblock 37 mm case made from a single piece of stainless steel, which is fully polished and follows the shape of the original Commander collection. The minimalist, thin bezel and relatively large dial contribute to the easy readability that has always been a hallmark of this model family. In a previous article, we discussed the classic watchmaking style evoked by the Commander 1959, which evokes classic watchmaking. It is also worth taking a look at that article.

At the heart of the watch is one of Mido's excellent automatic movements, the Caliber 80. This is a reliable movement with a power reserve of 80 hours, which is more than enough to get through a weekend spent on a bedside table without the owner having to use a watch winder.
The precision of the watch's mechanism is further enhanced by the use of a Nivachron™ hairspring, which makes the watch extremely resistant to magnetic fields, temperature fluctuations and shocks. This technology uses a titanium alloy as its base material, which is a relatively new solution in watchmaking. The watch mechanism is covered with an elegant Côtes de Genève decoration, or Geneva stripes, and is also adorned with an engraved Mido logo.

The dial design is extremely aesthetic: the diamond-cut hands and polished indices sparkle beautifully in the light, but if you really want to experience the watch's credo, we recommend a disco concert. The Milanese metal strap ensures elegant and comfortable wear. The watch is water-resistant to 50 meters, or 5 bar, a pressure often used by watchmakers, which provides sufficient protection for the watch so that the wearer does not have to worry about its integrity in everyday life. The weight of the watch also contributes to its comfort, at only 85 grams.
