The PRC 100 Solar watches feature the iconic 12-sided bezel that first appeared in the mid-2000s from Tissot and has been a defining feature of the brand's range ever since. This time, the classic design is paired with modern technology: thanks to a mechanism called Lightmaster Solar Quartz, the watch is able to convert both natural and artificial light into energy, providing its wearer with virtually unlimited operating time.

A special feature of the collection is the aforementioned Lightmaster Solar technology, which, in short, means that microscopic honeycomb-structured solar cells are placed directly under the scratch-resistant sapphire crystal watch glass, ensuring optimal light absorption without disturbing the aesthetics or readability of the dial. These hexagonal objects are worth looking at in one of the close-up photos, as they are imperceptible from a distance.

Energy from the solar cells is transferred to the Swiss F06.615 quartz movement via a so-called zebra connector. Excess energy is stored in a rechargeable battery, which can operate at full capacity for up to 14 months when fully charged.

Just ten minutes of sunlight is enough to power the watch for a whole day, so wearing it for a few minutes each day will keep it running indefinitely. For safety's sake, there is a low energy level indicator function to let you know when charging is needed. In this case, the second hand will jump in four-second increments to alert you that the watch needs to be exposed to light.
