For more than a century and a half, IWC Schaffhausen has been one of Switzerland's leading watch manufacturers. The brand specializes in engineering, durability, functionality, and understated yet detailed design. Founded in 1868, the brand is a pioneer in the industry, particularly in the use of materials. By using titanium, ceramic, Ceratanium®, and other alloys developed in-house, it stands out from other Swiss watchmakers, who are also known for their high quality. Sustainability and transparency are also part of the brand's philosophy, and the watches are characterized by cross-generational quality and reliability.
In 2025, IWC presented new models in connection with its entry into the world of Formula 1 on the silver screen. In the film, IWC is the official sponsor of a fictional team called APXGP, and the new watches reflect the team's colors, the characters of the drivers, and the excitement of the sport.
One of the most unique pieces in the collection is the Ingenieur Automatic 40, worn by the film's protagonist, Sonny Hayes (played by Brad Pitt). This unique watch was inspired by the Ingenieur SL with a green dial. The watch is a limited edition, available in only 1,000 pieces. The model's 40-millimeter case is made of stainless steel and complemented by an integrated metal bracelet.
True to the Ingenieur series, the green dial features a square pattern with gold-plated indices and hands. Excellent readability, both day and night, is ensured by the Super-LumiNova® phosphorescent coating. At the heart of the watch is IWC's in-house developed 32111 automatic movement, which offers a power reserve of 120 hours. The movement is protected from magnetic fields by an inner case, and the watch is also super water-resistant, guaranteed by the manufacturer to a depth of 100 meters.
Another piece in the collection is the Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41, which features the colors and style of the APXGP team, with an 18-karat rose gold case, black lacquered dial, and gold-plated hands and indices. The model has a black rubber strap that can be quickly changed using the IWC EasX-CHANGE® system. This model will be worn in the F1 movie by Joshua Pearce (played by Damson Idris), an up-and-coming young driver and teammate of Sonny Hayes.
The 41 mm diameter watch is powered by the IWC 69385 automatic chronograph movement, which boasts a 46-hour power reserve. The watch's dial draws our attention to several technical details. One interesting feature is the tachymeter bezel, which is a mandatory yet impressive feature on a racing-inspired watch.
Another distinctive feature is the three subdials, which are also decorated with rose gold. The subdials house the accumulator indicators, but there is also room for a date window on the dial. The transparent case back is made of sapphire crystal glass, which is not only scratch-resistant, but also allows the decoration on the case to be admired.
The third piece in the collection is the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph APXGP. This watch comes with a stainless steel case, black dial, gold-plated hands and indices, and a black rubber strap with APXGP laser engraving. The model is available in two sizes, with a choice of 41 mm or 43 mm diameters.
The back of this watch is also made of sapphire crystal glass, featuring the team logo in gold. The movement is again the IWC 69385 automatic chronograph caliber with a 46-hour power reserve. Both chronographs are water-resistant to 10 bar, making them ideal for a sporty lifestyle.
IWC's new models combine the adrenaline-fueled atmosphere of Formula 1, engineering prowess, and cinematic creativity. The Ingenieur Automatic 40 is recommended for those seeking technical depth and a distinctive yet understated design, while the Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41 and Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41/43 APXGP are for fans of motorsport, chronograph functions and modern sporting elegance. These watches are not just timepieces, but tangible reminders of the world of film and Formula 1, bringing uniqueness and history to the wrist.
