2022 Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Ultra Deep

Omega has drawn on its experience of extremes at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean to create the Seamaster Planet Ocean Ultra Deep, a model whose robust design speaks for itself.

As part of the 2019 Five Deeps expedition, which we have already written about, the Omega Ultra Deep watch made history by reaching the deepest point on Earth, the Mariana Trench. The model was placed on the robotic arm of a submarine. Based on this achievement, Omega adapted the know-how gained for a new civilian collection intended for the public. Swiss engineers tested the Omega Planet Ocean Ultra Deep under harsh conditions: the case is water-resistant to 6,000 meters (20,000 feet) and the watch complies with ISO 6425:2018, which specifies the requirements and subsequent tests for diving watches used in deep diving.

About the watch
The design of this new model is striking for its robustness, with a case measuring 45.5 mm in diameter and 18.2 mm in thickness, certainly not typical of a standard sports watch. The Omega Ultra Deep is made of O-MEGASTEEL, a new alloy patented by Omega. This material is more resistant than conventional steel, should be nickel-free, have a different shade, and offer greater scratch resistance.

We are looking forward to the new model and the feel of this "new" steel. The gradient lacquered dial will be set with white gold indices, which owners of the Aqua Terry, for example, will certainly appreciate. There is nothing more beautiful than the reflection of white gold indices. The unidirectional rotating bezel is made of Liquid Metal. The back of the case will feature a 5th generation titanium caseback. The watch is powered by the proven caliber 8912, which is resistant to magnetism, equipped with a 62-hour power reserve, a 5-year warranty, and a frequency of 3.5 Hz. All that remains for me to do is to contact the Omega distributor and ask them to send us at least one Deep Sea watch.
There will be 5 models available, 4 steel versions with blue and orange bezels and one model in a titanium case with a NATO strap.
