Montblanc Meisterstück Around the World in 80 Days
The Meisterstück "Around the World in 80 Days" collection is inspired by Jules Verne's famous adventure novel. The Doué Classique fountain pen with a gold-plated cap and a gradient anthracite lacquered barrel is based on the second stage of the journey, specifically the journey from Bombay to Yokohama.
The main characters in this part of the adventure travel on a majestic elephant, which is depicted in the cartouche on the cap. The cap, made of gilded metal, is engraved with Indian, Chinese, and Japanese ornaments symbolizing good luck. The clip features a red diamond, and the cone is engraved with a pattern inspired by Princess Aouda's jewelry with card symbols, representing Mr. Fogg's bet that he can complete the journey in 80 days.
The length of the journey is stamped on the top of the cap: 25 days from Bombay to Yokohama and 80 days in total. The writing instrument is finished with a handcrafted 18-karat gold nib decorated with a hot air balloon with the dates 10/20 and 11/14: Mr. Fogg leaves Bombay on October 20 at 8:00 p.m. and leaves Yokohama on November 14 at 6:00 p.m.
