Welcome to the second installment of our series "How to Choose the Right Watch." In the previous article (Expert advice on how to choose the right entry-level watch, part 1), you surely learned a few important points, and now we have a sequel with more useful advice on the same topic. You can find out what they are below.

6. Logos everywhere

I know, sometimes it can be annoying, but a brand that is proud of its products wants to show them off in every way possible. That's why such manufacturers tend to place their logo not only on the dial, but also on other key parts of their products. This looks particularly impressive on the crown and bracelet clasp, and if you identify with the company's logo, it can also be decorative and representative.

7. Luminescence

Of course, it is important to realize that expecting luminous hands on an elegant watch is nonsense, but in the case of sports or sporty-elegant watches, it is a necessity. Imagine sitting in the cinema with your partner, watching Dakota Johnson, for example, the only interesting character in the whole film, and wanting to find out how much longer you will have to suffer the perfect Mr. Grey. You can't use your phone because you would immediately get a popcorn bag thrown at your head from the back row. It is precisely for such cases that watchmakers apply luminous material to the hands and indices. As long as they have enough light, you can tell the time even after four hours in complete darkness. A really useful feature. Brands such as Tissot and Certina use SuperLuminova as standard.

8. Design

If you've read this far, I appreciate it. You may think I have a personal problem with fashion brands. I admit, you're right. I spent some time selling these watches, and my aversion only deepened. Traditional brands strive to offer customers value built up over years, even centuries in some cases. Not only quality, but also timeless design. Above all, the design proves that traditional manufacturers are not interested in you wearing a watch for a year or two, or only for as long as "furry slippers" are in fashion.

9. Water resistance

I will just add this. I love versatile watches, ones that I can use anytime, anywhere. That is why water resistance is extremely important to me. In order to be able to use my watch without worry in the summer at the lake or while snorkeling, I need a watch that can withstand 10 bar of pressure. In other words, 100 meters – don't be alarmed, this does not refer to actual depth, but rather the pressure that the case can successfully withstand. In the case of 10 bar, we can use the watch with complete peace of mind for snorkeling and a relatively large number of water activities.

Thank you for reading this far. I sincerely believe that if you take away at least something from this, it is quite likely that you will not regret your purchase. In the next installment of this series, you can look forward to new advice on choosing watches in a higher price range.
