The 70s come to the screen: Mido Multifort TV Chronograph with a case shaped like a television screen
Model: with blue dial, two types of straps M049.527.11.041.00
Since 1918, Mido has been carrying on the Swiss watchmaking tradition of functionality and timeless design. The brand name comes from the Spanish expression "yo mido," which means "I measure." The Multifort family is one of the cornerstones of this heritage: since the 1930s, it has embodied a combination of durability, modern technical solutions and sporty elegance, which is now complemented by the iconic TV shape of the 1970s.
The brand is now combining the TV format, revived in 2023, with a chronograph for the first time, so the Multifort TV Chronograph embodies both the renaissance of the Multifort TV series and the meaning of the Mido brand name in a chronograph that boasts a modern, stunning appearance and cutting-edge technical sophistication.
The alternating brushed and polished surfaces of the 42 mm stainless steel case give the watch a stunning play of light. This helps to maintain the visual balance that so many chronographs lose, despite their myriad functions. The clean lines of the watch are further enhanced by the push buttons, which are shaped to match the case and are used to operate the chronograph functions. The aesthetics of the watch are complemented by our choice of straps: an integrated steel strap with an urban character or a synthetic textile strap with deep blue decorative stitching.
The watch's resistance is ensured by its 10 bar (100 meter) water resistance, screw-down crown, and sapphire crystal watch glass, both sides of which have been treated with an anti-reflective coating. The back of the watch is also made of sapphire crystal, allowing you to admire the workings of the mechanism.
At the heart of the Multifort TV Chronograph is the Caliber 60 automatic chronograph movement, which has a power reserve of up to 60 hours. The Nivachron hairspring used in the caliber takes advantage of the benefits of titanium-based alloys: it provides effective protection against magnetic fields, extreme temperature fluctuations, and vibrations. Through the transparent case back, we can see the blue screws that harmonize with the dial, the circular grinding on the surface of the movement, and the skeletonized oscillating weight with the Mido shield.
The crown jewel of every watch is its dial, whose craftsmanship and design distinguish the best watches from the average ones. The Multifort TV chronograph brings us the characteristic horizontal grooves of the series in an exciting shade of blue. Depending on the lighting, the dial can take on several shades, from a bright, sparkling blue to a deep blue reminiscent of the color of the sea.
Three subdials on the dial provide an overview of the chronograph functions: a 30-minute chronograph counter at 3 o'clock, a 12-hour chronograph counter at 6 o'clock, and a seconds counter at 9 o'clock. The large central seconds hand displays the measured seconds. The tachymeter scale is located on the edge of the dial, and the date window is at 4:30. Both the indices and the nickel-plated, faceted hands are coated with white Super-LumiNova phosphorescent coating for perfect readability.
The Multifort TV Chronograph is designed for those who are looking for a distinctive, contemporary chronograph that combines the TV-style aesthetics of the 1970s with modern technology and outstanding wearability. This model is equally at home in everyday urban life and during sporty weekend activities: water resistance to 100 meters, a high power reserve, the precise Caliber 60 and two types of quick-change straps complement each other to make this watch a valuable piece. We recommend it for those who love modern, elegant dials, structured, easy-to-read dial layouts, and appreciate being able to admire the detailed construction through the case back.
